Overall responsibilities include coordinating and supervising health care services for persons supported throughout the agency’s I/DD IRA and juvenile justice programs, services provided by outside entities, audit preparation, and ensuring the integrity of medical records.
Responsible for oversight of the nurses/medical services in their assigned IRA’s and juvenile justice facilities for their coordination of primary care services (including exams, testing, screenings, referrals, prescriptions and medication management, etc.) to persons supported in I/DD – IRA’s and juvenile justice facilities.• Provide direct clinical support to programs as needed.• Participate in the hiring and coordination of the full time and per diem nurse/nurse practitioner/physician assistant’s schedules for the IRA’s and juvenile justice facilities.• Oversee documentation of health services provided per requirements of regulatory agencies, assurance of quality, management of records, and compliance with mandates for regulators.• Participate in the Incident Review and Human Rights Committees for I/DD and Juvenile Justice on a monthly basis.• Serve as a supportive/additional liaison with the nurses to Primary care Doctors for health services information.• Create health policies and protocols as per OPWDD/ACS/OCFS regulations. Develop agency responses to health crisis and concerns. Coordinate policies and actions with appropriate external regulatory bodies.• Provide medication administration training to juvenile justice staff.• On call to field medical emergencies as needed.• Participate in planning and policy creation. Represent agency to external constituents as needed.• Ability to provide onsite support by traveling to sites in Westchester, Bronx and Brooklyn.• Other duties and responsibilities as required or as assigned by the Clinical Services Director in consultation with the Assistant Executive Director of I/DD Services or her designee and the Director of Juvenile Justice
Registered Nurse, preferably with experience with I/DD, OPWDD, Child Welfare, ACS/OCFS regulations• Management experience of 5 – 7 years.• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
