Overview

SUMMARY:  To provide supervision and direction within the Residences to all AMAP staff in regard to medical care and Medication Administration along with direct medical support to consumers with Developmental Disabilities

 

 

Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:     (Including but not limited to the following)

 

  • Direct Supervision for all staff providing medical support to consumers within the residential program
  • Work closely with staff and consumers to ensure medical well-being of all consumers within a safe and clean environment
  • Ensure effective medical care, proper documentation, and reporting of all administration of medication to consumers based on Agency and OMRDD guidelines
  • Monitor, distribute and document all training to staff and consumers in regard to medical care and medication administration
  • On call for emergencies with prompt response time
  • Provides immediate reports to managers of any discrepancies found on the Medication Administration sheets or in the consumers medical care
  • Notifies management of and follows up on any emergency medical care for consumers
  • Collaborates with the Quality Assurance Team to ensure the best outcome for the program and consumers by compiling medical reports and data for consumers’ annual and semiannual reviews and by providing ongoing feedback to Executive staff regarding consumers’ care
  • Assigns, reviews, and documents consumer medical care in a monthly note for each consumer

 

Qualifications

 

 

  • RN, prefer BSN, at least 2 years work experience
  • NYS nursing license
  • Expert knowledge of nursing practice in regard to developmental disabilities residential services
  • Calculate, monitor, and analyze reports regarding medication administration and lab results
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Able to encourage positive attitude toward consumer’s capabilities and limitations
